Does anyone know of some really good local bands playing live music around here? Coming from Texas....I miss that! Where are the good spots for this?

Just pick up a Folio Weekly newspaper around town...it has a huge music section in it. Comes out every Tuesday and it's free! It has a concert calendar, nightlife listings by neighborhood, etc.

Good advice.

Folio Weekly, Live Music

I love these guys, they're local, but they're kinda hitting the big-time these days:

We went to see a band called "Bread and Butter" at Lynch's Irish Pub in Jacksonville Beach a week ago and they were great. They were only a three piece and sounded really full and smooth. The drummer was awesome and did a lot of the singing. Bass player played a 5 string bass and was responsible for giving them their full sound. They did a version of Prince's song "Darling Nicki" which I would have never thought could be performed by a 3 piece band, but they pulled it off very well!

Saw two really good bands last night at Jackrabbits. One was a band out of Gainsville called Victory BLVD and other out of Yulee called Shotgun Harbour. Both can be found on myspace.

I've been posting here a long time, mostly answering questions that are construction and housing related. This one however, is in regards to local bands. We have opened our website: Bite The Bullet Band where you can find our song list and some videos, and we are on FB at Login | Facebook

We just played our Debut Gig in Springfield on Saturday and had a blast, and while that was a Private Party by invitation only, we will be playing some shows open to the public soon. You can track our schedule on our website. If anyone needs to hire a band, we are now ready to roll. This is not advertising, but merely shameless self promotion.
