My fiancee and I are looking to have a small wedding on the beach with just our immediate families, so there would only be 8 people, including us. We've seen those beach packages that companies sell, and they look kind of cheesy and are expensive for what you get. We actually want to make our own arch because we like to do these kinds of projects together.

Anyway, can someone help me out as far as what I should be looking for to have a small ceremony on the beach? Any advice or things I need to do, such as get a permit to marry on the beach? Thanks.

We actually did this last October when 2 of the City Data folks came to Jax to get married
If you want the ceremony on Jacksonville Beach call

She was very very helpful with regards to getting the permit which was no charge
She was also able to answer most questions
I found the application we used and there was a section asking if you will be using chairs, bridal arch or canopy tents

The area we used was right by the pier

Here is the link on applying for the marriage license

Karla is being modest. Here are the pix of the wedding she referred to. //www.city-data.com/forum/other...-pictures.html

Bride and groom met on CD and a CD member performed the ceremony!

The easiest and cheapest way is probably to rent a beachfront house in an area where there isnt a lot of people on the beach. Some places will let you rent for the day/weekend/week and the prices are reasonable. Alot of beachfront rentals are in areas where there is no public access so there are usually no people right there. Then you can have what little reception or people you want over at the beach house after the ceremony.

Thanks for the information. I'm going to give PR Coordinator later this week. Anyone want to recommend any beachfront houses, hotels, or anything? Ideally I'm looking for something small in either Jax beach or St Augustine beach. We want something cheap because we are simple folk and wish to save our money for other endeavors. Just a small place to hold an intimate ceremony, 12 people max. We're not going to have a reception or anything, just the wedding ceremony.

Also, if someone can recommend me a photographer who will take pictures and give me the originals, please let me know. I just want some nice pictures at a good price, and the original copies.

When are you planning to have the wedding ?
This will determine how crowded the beach is going to be
What our friends did was took a look at the different beach fronts and then decided

For the photos me and my wife went with Wilson Photography www.wilsonphotographs.com They are excellent to work with and their work is amazing. There are very few places that will give you a full photo release AND a dvd/cd with all of your photos, especially at the price Wilson charges.

For beach rentals, it might be best to ask a realtor because they have access to all of the rentals in the MLS and some which might not be listed anywhere. It would be best to go to the beach real estate offices for this. Also you can go to www.watsonrent.com . Also maybe www.bpmstaug.com .

I was walking the beach (here at Fernandina) about a week ago and came upon a wedding. This was the smallest beach wedding I've ever seen, and also the earliest.
It was barely 8 o'clock in the morning, but it was so quiet and beautiful at that time of day. There could not have been more than 6 people in the wedding party. It really looked lovely.
