Asheville has a large hippy population, if that is what you're referring to. But heck if that's what makes them so happy and friendly, cities in FL might wanna try it, cause the ocean aint doing it!

Funny how the common denominator in all the Florida cities is heavy populations of New York / New Jersey transplants ... also have to question these stupid polls when cities like New York , Los Angeles and Philadelphia are not included in this list .

I am a transplant from the Philadelphia area. While I wasn't "angry" living there, I was unhappy with several aspects of living there. However, since moving to Jacksonville, I have never been happier and couldn't be further away from being angry. I don't think it's the transplants making the areas angry. I would think most people come here because they want to be here. We come here to be happy. I don't agree with the top 10. Everyone I have met here and talked to, including Orlando, love it and would never leave. I can't say the same for the people in Philadelphia.

Save the obvious...yes I agree if you're looking for mountain climbing or ice fishing, this is not your place. But anything else can be found here in Jacksonville. It's all a state of mind anyway - one can be happy anywhere if they choose to be. THIS is just a real easy place to find anything you might want - call it what you want, but Jax is definitely NOT BORING! IT's got it all.

I like Jax, I posted the pic of Asheville because I like Asheville and went to college there, etc... I think Jax is the best big FL city.

Asheville is a good town. Brevard is a tad too liberal for me though, but also beautiful.

Theater. I adore theater!! I won an award. When I first came here I called-asked-around for any place to take acting classes..NONE.

Arts..ZERO. I believe they had the Quilting show up and running..what is that..

look this town is slow. If you have three kids and settled it's fine. But besides that..nothing
