I think you guys were holding out on me. Today a guy told me he lives downtown with his gf at 11 Forsyth. He loves it and chose it over The Strand. He said downtown only "appears" empty but he and alot of friends live there and go out every single night somewhere. I said hey...all I see are random men wandering around aimliessly ...are these your posse LOL....he said you have to know where to go there are all kinds of places in "nooks and crannies" and he swore to me the city does not close down at 7 as it appeared to me. He even wrote down his gf's tel number for me to call to get the scoop on where to go lol. I still don't know about living over there as a single woman but...

For what it's worth.......

(also that building as well as the Carling have great reviews by the tenants)

Downtown does have a lot going on, just have to know where to go. Once an area gets a stigma (ie, downtown is dead), it takes a long time to shake.

Hey, I've posted about both 11E and the Carling a couple of times, but am always ignored I've seen a unit in 11E and it was very nice. I can't remember which, but one of them has resident socials regularly. That probably helps to develop a community feel. I have friends who lived at the carling and really loved it. They only moved BC they had a child and wanted to be near a park. I guess that Hemming wasn't what they had in mind

BTW- my cuz is moving into the Strand. I haven't seen his place yet, but he said it is beautiful.

I KNOW, right? Hemming Park is what turned me off to downtown right or wrongly. ALL random people looking intimidating and aimless...and the park has almost no lighting at night so you see figures. I'm from Philly so I like downtowns but our city is bustling crowded so the parks have a balance of bums and non-bums LOL.

Yeah it's nice here at the Strand. About 10 different layouts so you can get alot of variety. Mine has one balcony you access from two rooms which is what I wanted. But you can get 2 balconies or 1 big one or whatever. Nice views and you can see the action on the river. Private access to the Riverwalk thingy. And free coffee (my favorite amenity lol) and fruit in the am. My first elec bill was great 50.00 I expected more. And 35 for the other misc utilities. The dogs are awesome and the people are all nice.

For me, downtown woulda been better since there's no place to walk to over here anyway, so I'm always at Riverside when I need something. I work on Bay. I wanted to look at the Carling and 11 Forsyth but people told me it wasn't great for a single woman and they're probably right. But the walk to work would be perfect. AND save 50 per month in parking.

Yeah it's 11 Forsyth with the socials he wrote it down on the card for me.

I really can NOT understand WHY there is not a single drug store or convenience store over here (well, there's one but it's more like a beer store)....I also looked at 1616 in Riverside but there wasn't anything without a spiral stair and my bed won't go up there. For shopping that's the best area at 5 points imo, meaning daily food and necessities but that park has bums too...a kid told me the bums saved him from the muggers once so don't be scared of them ha ha.

I live downtown and the stereotype of dowttown as dangerous really needs to change. After 7 yrs., no incidence of crime worth noting. (one neighbor lost a potted plant 4 yrs ago?)
I also own a studio at City Place, and it's a great place to live if you want to walk everywhere, look at a fabulous urban skyline, and save money......and it's vacant! Spread the word
