Having said that, Jags fans are fair weather fans, and as much as I hate to admit it, I'm one of them (no sense lying about it, right?). When they stink, I don't want to spend that kind of money to watch them stink. Plus, we got spoiled with the franchise's early success, since people expected the expansion team to struggle for a few years. When they got to the AFC title game in year two, expectations changed overnight.

When they went into the tank from 2000 - 2004, the interest waned. We got excited in 2005 and then in 2007 when the team looked to be progressing, but last year the expectations were high...and the results were disastrous. That experience will keep a lot of "fans" away this season unless/until the team starts winning. It's sad, but that's the way it is.
Co-sign. I'm glad we have a team but at the same time, if they started winning JMS would be full because fans want to see a winning team. No one wants to pay good money to watch your team lose, that's crazy talk.

What a bias statement. If we had less residents like this we wouldnt have a problem. JMS is more built for a college team than NFL team. I have been to many games so dont tell me people wouldnt care if they left.
I'm being real. MOST citizens wouldn't care if the Jags left because like someone above me stated, Jacksonville fans are fairweather fans, pack JMS when the team is doing good but when they're doing poorly, the stadium is almost empty. To an extent I would care if the Jags left but at the same time, if Jags could get it together then maybe folk would support them more.

You support your team win or lose. There's no assurance that they will win on Sunday and if you should stay home or not. Those people are called bandwagoners. We need more of the people who showed up last yr win or lose. Lets get more of those people and the bandwagoners can get off. Jags went 11 and 5 in 07 and still had trouble selling tickets so you see winning doesnt mean full seats. We just need more real fans and fairweather folks can stay home.

Like you stated, Jacksonville is moreso built for college football games than pro sports. Hopefully that'll change in a few years but right now, that may not be the case.
