Anyway, I've done fairly good on the dollar slots, but, in the last couple of years my wife hasn't done good at any kind of gambling. Fortunately there have been times that I've been able to win enough to cover what she lost.
We have a reservation right now to go on the noon cruise.
Last time we went to a casino was in Cherokee, NC and we were astounded at how many people were gambling on a Saturday night. Shoot we had a heck of a time just trying to find an open slot machine! That was Oct of last year.
I've actually never made it to the casino in Cherokee. A bit off the beaten path.

Sounding somewhat slow again, but what is JCP?
We went to the casino in Cherokee a few times. It was fun for me, I was winning some, but wife.......let's not go there! Good thing is that we only allowed ourselves $100 each for gambling. We both had much better luck in Las Vegas.

IMO never go to a indian res. casino. You will have much more fun in Vegas, or Biloxi. Let us know how the river boat was.

Julington Creek Plantation. It's in St. Johns County, South of Mandarin.

I've been on Suncruz a few times for the evening cruise. Mostly play the slots just for fun. Sometimes the mint magazine has free coupons to get on board. It's not bad every once in a while...

Sun Cruz does have a very nice (and informative) website. The cost is only $3 to board the ship if a person takes a bus, from certain pick-up points, there. If a vehicle is driven down to the Cruise Depot, it costs $13 to board the ship.
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!!

My husband and I have been on the cruise twice. It's fun for something to do - we love to play craps and since you can't do that anywhere around here, we went. It's alright. Kinda dirty. I had a friend who serviced another sun crusie casino boat at her ship yard and said that the whole thing was filled with rats - do not eat the food!!!

A nice shuttle bus picked us up at a Winn-Dixie down the street from our apt.. Taking the shuttle saved us $10 each ship boarding fee. Cost of boarding was only $3! If you drive/park there, the boarding fee is $13. The Sun Cruz ship has three decks:
Top Deck has a Bar, DJ, tables/chairs and 1/2 covered (nice view of river, NAS, etc......a camera and/or video camera is allowed, but (obviously) can not be used on the decks where the slots/playing tables are).
Middle Deck is all slots
1st Deck is a few slots and the rest are gambling tables.
The ship is pretty clean, but does look old. My wife told me that it was actually cleaner than she thought it would be!
The ship goes out on the ocean 3 miles and pretty much just sits for 3 hours. Jax Beach can be seen from where the ship is sitting.
With the boarding fee, we also got a FREE breakfast buffet on the top deck! It is a small buffet, but it is FREE!! That buffet starts when people start boarding the ship and ends 1 1/2 hrs later. But, food can be bought at a Bar on another deck.
There were problems with some of the slot machines and a few were turned off due to major problems (we guess). The slots aren't as "loose" as advertised, but they do pay out! Wife and I had $100 each for gambling. She wasn't winning anything on slots for awhile. As for me, I done ok and pretty much covered what she lost! I played mainly the $1 slots, like I always do. I played a few slots and lost almost $75. We got something to eat and I decided to play two more $1 slots. I put a dollar bill into one......nothing. I went to another and put a dollar bill in that and WON $153......off of that $1 bill!! After that, I quit and the ship started heading back to port.
For the cost of $3 each boarding fee and $12 for lunch, it was a nice trip and good luck for me in gambling.
We will go out again, perhaps next time on the evening cruise so we can see the lights of NAS, etc.. We also may try the Datona Beach Sun Cruz.

I've been out on the Suncruz boat out of New Port Richey FL a couple of times. I think Internatonial waters are 10 or 12 miles on the Gulf side so you get a little longer of a boat ride. I made a little money the first time and lost about $150 the second time. Saw a guy tag a Wheel of Fortune slot for $600 and then a few pulls later hit another $200. A few thousand would be a good payout on a Suncruz, but it's still fun.
