I know there are two poker rooms on Jax's south side, but they're crippled by Florida law ($100 max. buyin).

I called and asked: they run them Saturday night, but sometimes they get the players and sometimes they don't.

3-Card Poker was playing while we were on there a week ago this past Saturday for their afternoon cruise. There can be quite a bit of noise going on during the time out on the water and generally poker players like it more quiet than we heard it.

That's a house-banked (traditional gambling) game, not at all similar to real poker.

i worked for them cocktailing for 2 years. i don't have anything bad to say about the cruise except! remember--it is a smaller boat than an ocean liner so there is a much greater chance for sea-sickness! Take dramamine BEFORE you leave your house cuz once you are on the boat--it is TOO LATE if you feel nauseated. just saying. i went home with high heels full of vomit one to many times from our guests not warning me when my back was to them.

I did that cruise once and vowed to never do it again. It was dirty, crowded with smelly drunk people and LOTS of smoke everywhere, even outside on the back deck- I felt like I smoked 100 packs by the time we got off the boat...I am allergic to smoke, so I did not enjoy myself.
I love regular cruises, this one just did not do it for me. I guess give it a try and see...everyone has different tastes.

okay back to the casino thing...Its pretty sweet. If anything a nice ride out into the ocean while looking at jax beach on the horizon. For the free drinks you do have to kind of be on your toes and hunt the girls down doing drinks...dont do the buffet because its 10 bucks for "all you can eat" which means, all you can fit on your plate once, and then its another 10 bucks to go back through. the upper deck is also very nice to hang out on, but dont buy from the bar 8 dollar mixed drinks in 10 oz glasses gets old. So if your a true gambler and enjoy it, go have fun. i did with a few friends many many times lol

NOT the experience we had a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday afternoon cruise! Like stated before, there were a number of smokers onboard, but the two lower decks had A/C's running and it wasn't bad at all for us......and wife has asthma, but not real bad. We got the Breakfast Buffet for free w/our Boarding Pass.....but wasn't much to it though! The ship was older and looked it, but so was the Carnaval Sensation when we went on a
3-day cruise on it last year. If you want to gamble some, Sun Cruz is great for that. Sure costs a heck of a lot less then traveling to Tampa Bay or Buloxi!!
If you just want to take a ride, that is fine, but it could get rather boring for the almost 3 hours the ship is pretty much setting still on the ocean (gambling time). And, yes, be ABSOLUTELY sure to take Dremmolin (?) BEFORE boarding the ship! One young lady on our Shuttle Bus got pretty sick after boarding the bus to go back to the pickup area. Her husband (or boyfriend) spent 20 minutes cleaning up the floor in front of her. Fortunately, didn't stink up the bus at all......thank you Lord, thank you!!!

Default Sun Cruise Casino

The same company has the same cruise out of SC, (cheaper than flying to Atl city or LV), it has all the main games including live craps, lots of black jack tables, poker tourneys, and of course slots & food & entertainment. see suncruzcasino.com
