I'm guessing my JEA bill is a good advertisement for upgraded insulation and windows
House is from the 1940's but previous owners gutted and rebuilt from the studs.

$135 in April, $172 in May for 2800 sq foot house with a small pool.
AC set at 76 degrees - two people, frequent guests

I've been replacing everything with LED bulbs and have noted the decrease in $$.

If I walk around the house at night one can see what looks like a christmas tree of red lights that are on all the time.

Wish I had one switch to turn off everything except the A/C and Frig.:-)

Do any of the planned communities allow for solar? It seems like a great option, especially for Florida, but I know some HOAs can be hard core about it.

I was in Nocatee this weekend looking at homes and none of the builders when asked said the HOA had no issues with them.
