Does anyone know where I could "rent" time/space in a commercial kitchen? (off hours and/or off days are okay). I'm trying to research this - but I was always under the impression that if you wanted to make or bake food and sell it, that it had to be made in a commercial kitchen. Does anyone know about these requirements and/or a place for this? Daughter and I want to bake holiday pies (we make really awesome baked goods and many have told us we should consider a business). Well we'd like to try it!

hollyinjax - Did you find a commerical kitchen for rent? I am looking for one, also. I want to start a homemade dog biscuit business. And one of the places I want to sell is at the Riverside Arts Market. Rules and regs state that you need to use a licensed commerical kitchen. Any ideas?

Thanks

Happens in New Orleans a lot. Chefs looking to start small carve out temporary quarters in established kitchens

I found this:

Commercial Kitchens for Rent | Florida

And the only one in Jax is Beaver St Commissary. Seems like there were some on Philips Hwy near Baymeadows but I can't find that info.

Check out the new Fl (passed 7/1/2011) called the Cottage Food Law. It allows some specific baked goods to made from the home and sold. The Fl. Div. of Food Safety has a web site with all the info. Happy baking......
