^^^ For some people, quality of life takes a back seat to warm weather/never wanting to see snow again... which is a terrible reason to move anywhere. I was BORN in FL and I've heard people gripe about the weather when it's HOT (of course it is, it's FL) and they are miserable because all they thought about was not wanting to shovel snow again. Besides Raleigh winters arent even that bad, if one can take the FL heat and humidity in the summer, you can take temps in the 40's in Raleigh 3 months out of the year.

It's quality of life vs warm weather. Some choose jobs/economy, 4 seasons and safer communities. Some choose places because it doesnt snow there.

Part of the reason we moved to Jax/Florida is to get out of snow......period. After taking a fall in snow/ice that requires a surgery, we had enough of that "snow and ice". Yes, it gets both hot and humid here and, at times, that heat/humidity feels unbearable, but that "unbearable" feeling is still better (for us) than living in snow/ice. Sure, Christmas without snow can seem weird, but being able to use a boat all year is very nice! And, when parts of the Country are digging out from a major snowstorm/blizzard, wife and I are on our boat enjoying a nice day of fishing or cruising around.

I have found that Raleigh has a high cost of living considering the prevailant wages. (I think the area has a lot of family money and people flush relocating from th NE)

^^^ Jax is cheaper. I like both cities for different reasons. Supply and demand is why Raleigh is more expensive - it's that simple.
