I have noticed over the past few months we have had more folks join the forum.
I though it would be fun to compare notes.

How long have you lived in the Jax area?

Did you move down for job ,family etc.

If your comfortable with posting it, where did you move from ?

How long have you lived in the Jax area? 17 years

Did you move down for job ,family etc. I moved down because I didn't want to miss out on watching my niece and nephew grow up.

If your comfortable with posting it, where did you move from ? I moved here after living in NJ for 7 years. I pretty much grew up right outside of Phila.

How long have you lived in the Jax area?

6 months

Did you move down for job ,family etc.

I moved to escape oppressive costs of living, and extreme liberal politics... But technically for a job...

If your comfortable with posting it, where did you move from ?
Maryland

How long have you lived in the Jax area?

Since we retired from the military in May '08 after 22 years of service.

Did you move down for job ,family etc.

Mainly due to the reasonable cost of housing, cost of living, and children's preference of quality of life. My children grew up in military bases both here and abroad. They like Jax because it's spread out, quiet, and not as crowded as, say, California, etc.

If you're comfortable with posting it, where did you move from ?

Everywhere

1. Have lived here 10 months.
2. Didn't like the Charlotte, NC area as much as we thought we would after a year living there. Wanted to get completely out of winter weather. Was extremely glad to give our snow shovel to the Goodwill!!
Lots of water for boating/fishing here!
3. Came here from North Carolina via Colorado via California. Originally came from Indiana (me) and Michigan (wife).

Born and raised in Jacksonville, or as it's affectionately called Da Bang 'Em. All my family & friends reside on the Northside.

My family always kept a home in St. Augustine since I was young, so the First Coast has been a part of my life for more than 3 decades. I decided to move here full time a little over 10 years ago from Manhattan/NYC.

The "why" of moving here is a bit more complex. There's no one overarching reason except maybe that I like to move around a lot . I've lived in a couple of different states, a good handful of cities.

I've bounced around a bit even since moving here. Between my husband and myself, at one time or another we've lived in all 3 of the major counties in NEFL including neighborhoods such as Riverside, Mirimar, Lakewood, San Marco, Jacksonville Beach, Orange Park/Doctor's Lake, Mandarin, Intracoastal West and Saint Augustine. So maybe that explains why I have opinions on so many neighborhoods !

I like it here a lot but I'd be willing to move again if I found a city more compelling, but so far, no other city is calling my name...perhaps I've *gasp* "settled down"?? !
