My son has enlisted in the Marines ... going to Boot in March. 'Til then he has mandatory PT every Thur afternoon with local Marines. Went to his first tonight, and he's wiped. He was told he needs to start running every day. Anyone know where he could run in the Arlington or Southside area?

When I lived in the Ft. Caroline/Cosmo area, I ran a lot at the Ed Austin park @ Monument and McCormick.
Kernan blvd is also very runner-friendly.

The Timucuan preserve is also a good place to run. It isn't paved and has lots of hills, but it's very pretty. The good thing about Ed Austin Park is that it has little distance signposts everywhere so you know how far you've gone.
