I'm relocating to JAX, hopefully in the next month or so. I've found some houses in the area of Atlantic Blvd & St. Johns Bluff. Does anyone have insight as to if this is a safe (good) area, etc.?

Thanks for your input!

I'm another recent Chicago transplant (about a month ago) and live not too far from that area. It seems ok from a "passing through" perspective. Lots of new shopping centers and stuff over there, and it's not too far from the beach, which is a positive in my book. Just be prepared to adjust to suburbia. I lived in Lincoln Park (60614) and Lakeview/Wrigleyville (60657) during my 12 years in Chicago, so the "atmosphere" has been tough to adjust to. The other day we were driving on Atlantic out toward the beach and I said to my husband, "It's like Schaumburg leapfrogged over the city and landed on the lakefront." That should give you my perspective from a Chicagocentric point of view! The weather, on the other hand, is a dream. Even with the recent cold temps, it's felt like early May to us. There are a lot of good things here that we're discovering too, so please don't take this as a negative rant at all! It's just definitely an adjustment from city life to needing to drive everywhere. Good luck with your move.
