I have heard that.
It is one place we would love to try, but I have heard the currents are treacherous.

Karla,

I didn't find the currents to be bad when I went...one thing though, is a lot of boat trips get cancelled if the seas are too rough there, so to be safe you should plan to stay in the area for several days to make sure you get to dive.

Also, many of the wrecks take 1-2 hours to get to on the boat, so it is an all day affair, and most are somewhat deep (top of the wreck was usually at about 90-100 feet), but having said all that it is definitely worth going at least once.

From what I've seen off of Dice.com, the most IT related jobs are in Tampa. Actually, it usually goes in this order the amount of IT jobs available in Floriday

Tampa --> Orlando --> Jacksonville

I'd move to Tampa but I don't know if I could get homeowners insurance on a house. If I could it most likely would be through the roof!

I was nosey and asked lots of questions.

I don't remember the temp but I used a 3MM and it wasn't a problem (this was in August). The dives don't last that long because they're deep, so I think that's why I didn't get cold.

I don't think there's much else to say about it. Sure, some people are leaving Jax, but who knows why? People are always leaving and coming into cities of any significant size. There is no mass exodus to the next paradise, people are pretty happy here......for now.

If you move here in a year, or five years, who can say for sure? It is a city going through a big growth phase, will it play out well or be a disaster?

On the general Florida forum there are some very vocal voices saying they're 'getting out of FL', but you really don't hear that on the Jax forum, so I think that speaks for itself.

North Carolina...
We have thought about it, a lot about it actually... (moving to the carolinas) A couple of our neighbors have moved there and love it. My husband misses the mountains, but the wages are less there and I wouldnt be able to transfer with my job, so we are looking into other areas. NC does seem very nice, though.
