Looking for a neighborhood to Oviedo or Lake Mary. Good schools, newer homes, great place for families. I want to be close to shopping (Public, Target, Restaurants - not necessarily a mall) but not too urban. I also don't want to be in the middle of nowhere. Looking for a home in the low to mid 300's. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

did you mean to say "similar to" Oviedo or Lake Mary? Not sure what life is like in those parts of Florida, but I'd highly recommend the Oakleaf Plantation neighborhood in Orange Park. Very family oriented, very good schools, lots of shopping within 1 mile, more within 7-8 miles, lots of family activities, nice homes well below your price range. Check it out!

Eagle Harbor or Fleming Island Plantation in Fleming Island (Clay County) or Julington Creek (St Johns County) would be somewhat similar. Plus there are more areas.

As you'll see in most threads, what is most important is to know where you'll be working and then do the house research based on that -- Jacksonville is huge land-wise and traffic over the St Johns River is an issue. It's sort of the same concept as Orlando - you really wouldn't choose Lake Mary if you worked at Disney or Universal, or conversely you wouldn't choose Celebration if you worked at the airport.

All that are listed sound good. I live in Oakleaf. I shop at Target, Kohl's etc quite a bit. We have publix (2) very close by.

We have restaurants and new ones coming into our town center (la nopalera and panera) and a new library soon. It is easy to get downtown and near the mall, but honestly I hardly go to Orange Park Mall. It feels a bit more rural, but I like it.......

all of those neighborhoods are good choices though.......but I think I really like these master planned communities. I use the amenities alot.

sounds like you are looking for a place like mandarin(san jose and 295), arlington(regency area, atlantic blvd), or st. johns towns center area(southside ave, j. turner butler). all three are around the southside of jacksonville and have all of those things you mentioned as near as they can be in jacksonville. i personally live in mandarin and i don't have to travel too far (for jacksonville) to get to anything. however, most of the new stuff is going up around st. johns towns center.

justjill70 - You literally described about 1/3 of the entire metro area. So I think you'll be happy with what you find. Most of Jax is the general new-construction, suburban environment you described. Also, I'm not sure if there's a place in the entire metro that's more than 5 minutes from a Publix! They are everywhere.
