I decided to go looking at temp agencies to call and I found that most of them seem to be requesting a resume submitted online, after which they *may* call you in for an interview (as opposed to emailing/faxing it over and scheduling an appointment then and there). This information ranged from the subtle ("submit your resume here online to begin the application process") to the less subtle ("we are simply receiving too many worthy incoming candidates for us to be able to accommodate everyone with in-person meetings"). Has anyone else had this experience? I applied this way a few years ago, when the economy was better, and didn't give it any thought, even though they didn't call me back. Is this the new way of doing things technologically (to streamline procedures) or is this a product of the economy?
Just wondering, because I remember the way it was done years ago, but now it seems more impersonal. These all appear to be valid agencies. I went though Yelp! reviews and tried to pick some of the better ones that didn't look shill-laden.
Anyone with even potential jobs is being deluged with candidates, as mouse-clicking mays random applying too easy.
