Here's the story. I applied for a job in DC last Friday (very large reputable company). A recruiter called me the same day about 3 hrs after I submitted my resume (quick I know). I talk to her on the phone for about 30mins. The usual rundown. Sunday night at 745pm (Easter Sunday mind you) another recruiter for the same company (who works directly with the hiring manger) shoots me an email and says that the hiring manager is leaving for Australia Tuesday and wants to interview me Monday and make a decision.
I tell the recruiter on such short notice I don't know if Ill be able to make it (need to be courteous of my current employer).
I email him this morning (Monday) and tell him I have been given a deadline and cant make it out of the office today at the times he mentioned. He calls the HM back and reschedules it for 545. I told him it will take me at least an hour to get down there (DC) and theres no way I could make it before 6. So Im not sure why he told the HM 545 was okay.
Then the original recruiter I talked to Friday calls me and wants to confirm I've been talking to Mike (this recruiter in DC).
What is going on here? Why would they post a job on Friday when the hiring manager is leaving for Australia Tuesday morning? Is it really possible they could hire someone in basically 48 hours since the job was posted?
I get recruiter's being diligent and trying to make money but I have 3 voice mails and 5 emails from these people since 745 Easter Sunday (yesterday).
If the interviewing process is disorganized and generally a clusterF, it's likely a sign that the job you're applying for will be similar.
