What is the hiring process for a Library Curculation aide? I have an exam tomorrow and want to know what happens after I take that exam.

I am sorry no one has answered. I also wish I knew what the exam included. I even tried to google it and didn't find anything.

That may be why no one has answered this post. I am also sorry to hear you are not getting many responses to your posts. But remember, members are on at different times. For some members day and nights are switched.

Give it more time and I hope someone knows this answer. But the right member who knows might take awhile to see the post.

One idea, you can call the library and ask them the details. This would help you and I am sure they wouldn't mind.

Best wishes!

I took the test a few years ago and currently work at MPL. It mostly consisted of knowing the order of titles and authors. Which would come first, Redwood or Red Riding Hood (answer is Red riding hood). Remember some book titles have "the" or "and" in them and you should omit 'the'. For example, "the red wood" will still proceed a book titled "redwood".

Another example would be placing the names in order like so; John Schlitz, John Smith, John Swarthmore. You should also know if they had middle initials or if they went by a name like T.S. Elliot. would that change the order. For example if it were J. Smith, John Smith, John C. Smith, and John Carter Smith.

Also, there was a small section on library fines. For example, if a book is 15 cents for everyday late and Jimmy returns the book 10 days late, how much is his fine? If Jimmy gives you a five dollar bill, how much is his change?

For those of you that took the civil service exam, were all other test takers applying for the same position? If so, can you recall how many there were? Also, did it really take 2.5 hours to complete or less? I know this thread has not been active for a long while, but a response would be much appreciated. Thank you!
