Ok I got a job offer after interviewing with a company for the 2nd time. The company requested that my salary request began 7k above my current salary

Then I was called stating this company would like to make me a offer but want me to back in to go over salary.

Most job offers I had was over the phone and never has a company request that I ask for such a large amount over my current salary has anyone heard of this before?

I am not certain I completely follow what you are asking.

Were they making you a job offer over the phone?

Are you interviewing/accepting an offer via a third party recruiter?

Compensation at companies can be radically different. My previous company-- paid lower base salaries but offered lucrative variable pay schemes based on performance (bonuses, etc).

My new company does not offer a lot of variable pay so my base salary is significantly higher than my previous salary.

One of my best friends had the same scenario happen to her. She was making 50k then got an offer for 80k with no bonus.

Ok that makes sense on the salary part. Sorry I wasn't clear on the offer the company had HR call me and said they would like for me to come back in because they would like to make me a offer. I am really happy I just wonder why not make the offer over the phone. Is thus strange or just new to me?
