A lack of follow-up is frustrating for those who are looking to relocate. You have to coordinate a moving van, utilities, secure an apartment and/or house, etc.
Yes because those places gets TONS of resumes since people think they are easy to get since it's minimum wage
yeah, and the type of connection, networking, is it that you have to have a friend or relative that holds a position of authority there? in a management, supervisor position?

For those type of jobs all you need to have is a friend who has been there for a while. Wouldn't matter if they are a supervisor or not

yeah my best friend since middle-school works at Home-Depot, he doesn't hold any position of Authority, he's just a Lot-Attendent, Sales Floor Associate, has been working there for 2 years now, he's let me use him as a reference, connection, network person, it was enough to get me interviews but not enough to get me hired, also, my neighbor, who's a middle-aged man who lives across the street from me, works at Home-Depot too, let me use him as a reference, connection, but still no luck getting hired

At some level I tend to agree with this, if I was to offer a referral for someone at my current employer, it is almost guaranteed they would be hired, and I am nothing more than a basic employee. I know they would pass the background and drug screening or they wouldn't have gotten the referral from me.
You can know people who work for those companies that you applied to. But you have to be qualified or you wont hear from them.
Exactly. I got a resume sent to me by a friend yesterday. Her cousin wants to move to my area and is looking for a job. The cousin has absolutely no relevant skills that I can use. Therefore there won't even be an interview.
On the other hand, I've hired several people who came via friends and colleagues. Getting that resume put in my hands with a reference from someone I know and trust the judgement of gave them a huge, I mean gigantically huge, leg up on the competition.

yeah because my best friend since middle-school, he is the same age as me, 24, he was 22 at the time when he got hired at Home-Depot, and he had never had a job before and yet they hired him, he has been working there for 2 years now, is still there, he's let me use him as a connection, reference, enough to get me an interview but not enough to get me hired
so i wonder why my best friend since middle-school, whom i've known since 6th grade, has not been enough to get me hiring at Home-Depot, despite putting in a good word for me
