Sometimes you have to throw the rules out the window and go with your gut or it will eat at you. I interviewed for a position once where the hiring manager was so busy she couldn't keep her head on straight. So I followed up with her every step of the way (a big no no). She thanked me for reminding her and I got the job.

Something like that is extremely rare because 99 times of out a 100 you don't normally have to remind anyone that you were selected. I remember something like that happening with a internal candidate when she called but for that to happen with a outsider is extremely rare.

No I didnt say please don't call. But the point is, he is getting further then the rest that actually applied because he took the time to research the company and find a phone number.

Well, because contrary to popular belief, not all companies are the way you believe they are. He called, and stated he had submitted a resume via indeed.com and was wanting to speak to someone about following up on his resume. My receptionist transferred the call to me, and I spoke with him. I was impressed he took the initiative to research the company, look at our website and contact us.

When I go into the office I often work late. I'm the only one there to answer the phone, and sometimes someone will call to ask about their resume. Totally ticks me off as it interrupts my work flow. Their resume goes into the shredder. My ad specifically states, "NO PHONE CALLS, PLEASE! We will contact candidates we are interested in interviewing." So just because they can get me on the phone, it doesn't mean it's going to do any good.

Well this particular ad didn't state no phone calls but i was just going to prove that I wasn't selected since I have heard nothing since last Tuesday and call the lady since I was able to come across her number.

Well just called to follow up and got the women's voicemail so it was her direct number but I feel like leaving a message since I only called to talk to her live. Maybe I will give it another try tomorrow

You didn't "feel" like leaving her a message?
