This is one of the best articles I have read so far about what hiring managers are thinking and I thought I'd share. Also telling are the comments posted by readers at the bottom.

It's also got me thinking of not wearing my wedding band for my interview this week.
I'm a guy and I was wearing to interviews a simple wedding band even when I was single. It shows the interviewer that I'm a serious and responsible person who needs to support his family...
Some of it may hold true. A part in that article suggested unmarried men to buy a cheap wedding ring. But for a guy to buy a wedding ring when he is not married? What happens when he gets hired? Cant they find out? Will he have to get a woman to pose as his wife?

Very true mash. Although if the person becomes a long term employee and there are company events where spouses are brought he might need a "Plant" to keep the image up.
This is starting to sound like the plot of a romantic comedy film!

Who said anything about some law? It's just plain stupid to make a jackass out of your employer and fake a marriage to get a job, and I say this as an unemployed but honest person. Should you get your family and friends in on the scheme, too? What about their friends, coworkers and acquaintances? Where do you draw the line in how elaborate or simple your scam is? When you get busted, and you will eventually, what then? In this highly connected day and age, you can keep that charade up for only so long.

It is quite silly. I was reading another article somewhere that stated some employers seeing a ring on a man is a sign of stability, And that a single guy is more likely to just up and leave. Not true obviously but in a tight market people may be pulling out all the stops to get "in the door" using every advantage.
Guys, what are talking about? I came with a ring, that all. I did not say anything about my status. This is not my problem that the interviewer jumping in to conclusions.
