Put a couple bucks under minimum wage. That way, you can have a fighting chance against the illegals that are clawing their way into that job.

I would never just leave that question blank. employers use that as a way to weed out candidates. They'll figure if you leave it blank, you couldn't follow their direction and answer their question and they'll think you won't take the job seriously since you couldn't fill out the applicant in its entirety.

I am not sure I agree. I was never as a teen able to negotiate my salary. Whataburger, McDonalds, IHop etc. all have a starting wage. I can not imagine they would negotiate anything.

Just my thoughts.

I would put 'negotiable'... and then fly with whatever they offer you...

To be fair, the economic environment was probably much different during your teen years than now.

That said, look at it another way. Let's say you put down minimum wage as your required salary. But instead what if the employer usually starts their employees off at a higher wage than minimum? By saying you're perfectly fine with just earning minimum wage, you shot your chance to start off earning more than minimum wag like everyone else.

I wouldn't put much faith in assuming you are going to get this job anyway. If you want any shot of being noticed you will probably have to harass them in person (good luck), or keep calling until they blacklist you. If there was no mandated minimum amount to be paid, it would give job applicants a better shot because if the illegal alien offers them $6 per hour you can offer $4 and since humans are greedy by nature you would have the upper hand. This would be only for jobs like this though, career stuff would be totally different.

I got the job

Orientation was supposed to be July 27 (he told me August 27 at first) I'll be away but he told me I could come in. The hiring manager was SUPER nice, I think something he really liked was the fact that I am fluent in Spanish (He wrote that in on my app & he put that I'd be away until the second- so I guess this means that I have secured the job?)
