I tried it once and when I submitted it electronically, they showed up in black like the rest of it. It looked stupid so I removed them.

Stupid idea. The hidden words in white font is an old search engine trick. If you don't know exactly how these scanners work, then it's a crapshoot isn't it? Put the keywords in the actual text of your resume if you are concerned.

Screw HR. Put your detective skills to work and send your resume with a brief note to the hiring manager.

And then it'll get tossed in the garbage can because you circumvented the process.

You just can't win.

I'm working on redoing my resume since I haven't gotten a call in a while with the hundreds of resumes I've sent in.

They are read by humans if you apply to jobs that require you to email them and not some stupid online application.

I'm not saying you CAN'T get jobs that way, but success from that method is the exception and not the rule.

You want the get the hiring manager to submit the resume to HR himself. The best way to do this is to take him out to dinner or to the club prior to sending your resume.

If you do what I suggested above, it has a very good chance of going through the HR process and being called in for an interview.

Yeah right, the hiring manager is then going to wonder why in the hell does some complete stranger want to take him/her out to dinner, and will probably be even more suspicious of that person.
