How are job postings on there compared to other sites?

Anyone get a job from getting contacted out of the blue from a recruiter?

I received an offer from a job that I applied to on that site.

I've also gotten multiple interviews from directly contacting recruiters as well and inquiring on possible openings that fit my skillset.

LinkedIn can be an excellent resource. I am in charge of the hiring for the company I work for (I do the job posting, etc) so if you want to get your resume literally to me, you send it to my LinkedIn.

I talked to a recruiter for a company, but unfortuantly I cant drive for 90 days and it is too far to drive. She will still keep in mind since she works with other companies doing HR duties as well. She said she would keep in touch though who knows though. Usually you never hear back from them but it still nice that someone is reviewing your profile though.

It's free and takes only a few minutes to set up, there is really no downside to it. Also you can see people who have viewed your profile. I haven't applied for any jobs off of it but is useful for networking and keeping in touch with old colleagues in a more professional environment that is not facebook.

Most of linked in is for people who are trying to get key positions . Minor things like entry level usually isn't on there

I think LinkedIn has a lot of noise on it these days. 5 years ago, having LinkedIn was a ticket into landing a gig. Now LinkedIn seems flooded and less effective than it used to be. However, if your network is strong offline, LinkedIn does enhance the experience and reach.

This. Even then, as the other posters have noted, I never use that unless I want to look up a manager or something.
