Just wondering how many interview outfits you have? I only have three. That was fine, because I've never gotten more two interviews for the same positions. For my former interviews and it was two and none and for the job I got (and lost) it was one and hired. I had to come in to fill out paperwork for the background check. Should I get more? I'm going to be interviewing more (hopefully) since I'm unemployed. I plan to spend some of my tax return on outfits for interviewing. How many interview outfits do you have?
I'm a guy and have several several suits. I feel that we have it easier when it comes to interviews because our suits work for other occasions as well.
I don't mind not having the chance to wear them much. It keeps them in good condition. I'm just wondering if I should get more in case I have a week of interviews or so if I get three interviews close together I won't have to do laundry solely for that.
I think you're fine with three, honestly. It's not unheard of for a company to want to interview you more than three times, but it doesn't happen often enough to justify a fourth outfit. And depending on what your outfits consist of, some mixing and matching may be perfectly fine. If you want to buy something else, focus on buying more interview tops -- a black skirt is a black skirt is a black skirt, but tops will be far more noticeable in repeated wears.
However, since you're unemployed, you should perhaps consider just tossing your tax return money into savings just in case it takes a bit longer to find employment.
Thanks for the advice. I was thinking of going to the local outlet. Where you can get a few things for a 100. Most of my tax return, I'm putting towards my phone bill and rent for the upcoming months.
What I wear to an interview, I would wear to work, so I have about 10 skirts/dress pants and a bunch of nice blouses to mix it up. I'm a girl though, so I like to have a wide selection. I would never fork out money to have different outfits for each interview just for interviews. It's like buying a prom dress that you only wear once. Yeah, no.
Where do you live? I'm in NJ, and I used to substitute when I first got certified, and I've never seen a teacher in a suit. Not even in the high school. Only one principal I know out of like 30 wears a dress suit to work.
I have two. Business casual go-to outfit and a business skirt suit.
