I'm updating my resume and I realized adding my current job will throw it into 2 pages, especially with all of the duties I currently have.

The only option I can see for keeping it at one page is changing the font from 11 to 10. However to me 10 pt. font just seems really small for some reason.

If it was up to you, would you just change the font size or deal with having a 2 page resume? My only other option would be the leave off a job I was at over 10 years ago, but it was the longest job I had.

Leave it two pages. Just put a Summary of Qualifications/Skills on the first page to make sure those are highlighted. The whole "keep your resume 1 page" thing is a crock, IMO. I'd say 75% of the resumes I review are 2+ pages.

But do, definitely, summarize your relevant work experience before you get to the chronological part. Other wise it can inadvertantly "hide" skills that would be important.

I wish it was easy to summarize my skills as I have already done that and some are still pretty long. The downside of wearing so many damn hats, I suppose. Each job I've had I've worn at least 6 titles at any given time.

Thanks!

I hear you there. In that case, I'd tailor the summary to the position you're applying for. You can still highly ancillary skills/job duties in the Chronological portion, but keep the main relevant skillset up-front and highlighted.

It might mean that you end up with a ton of different resumes, but those typically work better than a somewhat generic one.

Since you've been working for most likely 15+ years, a 2 page resume isn't uncommon.

2 page is fine. It is more important to tailor the resume towards the job you are seeking.

Just leave it as 2 pages. Not saying you're thinking this, but the "1 page" resume is out dated. Meaning it's now okay to have a 2 page resume. I've been in Senior level postions for a while now and my current position is Director Of Finance, I could not possibly put it all on one page.

My career is such that each position builds on the next and every duty counts so I cannot remove anything.

2 pages is just fine.

I would leave your resume two pages. If you attempt to make it one page, you may leave out some pertinent information. My resume is two pages and I've never had a problem.

If you really want to reduce to 1 page have you thought about reducing the margins? Most word documents have the margins at a standard space from the top, sides and bottom of the page. You could just reduce the margin width all around and see how much more you can get on the 1 page. It might just work!
