Hi guys! In new to this forum site. I would like to get some help understanding what do after an interview. So I got an interview from Albertson on Tuesday, she gave me a detailed explanation bout working in Albertson such as; schedules, hours, and opening jobs. I did get a job offer. She offered me to work on the Produce area, she explained that I'm gonna get training, again hours and that thy call me about it. I'm not sure if they are only going to call me if i get the job or if i do or dont get job. This is going to be my first job, so im not really experience on the after the interview procedure.
They have to do a lot of stuff behind the scenes that you aren't aware of. Lots of paperwork and scheduling has to happen as well as possible stuff like setting-up a drug screen. Also, keep in mind that people have days off, go on vacation, get sick, etc.
I'd say give them a few days and then call if you still haven't heard anything.
For the future, you can always ask the interviewer when they plan to call you if you get a job offer during the interview. This way you won't have to worry about when the call will come. I would follow up with the interviewer on Monday to see where things stand.
If you got the job offer, did you officially accept it? Like others said, they may have days off, and also many job applicants are going to have to give a 2 week notice at their current job so it's very common for employers not to put someone on the schedule immediately. In fact the job might be to replace someone who put in his/her 2 week notice and that person isn't gone yet.
Another thing is that sometimes training or orientations are on a set schedule and you won't get to actually start until one begins.
Just make sure that you follow up if you don't hear something definite in a few days. You can ask them what they need you to do, if you need to complete any more paperwork or go for a drug screen.
Atleast you know you got the job so now it's just a matter of getting the offer in writing which makes it official. Just follow up in a week which shouldn't be a problem since the job was already offered to you. It would be a lot different following up and not knowing if you got the job or not.
From personal experience...until you are filling out the W-2 forms and starting your first day, don't assume anything.
I had a verbal job offer before, as well. It was followed by the employee handbook, the "welcome" letter discussing the hours, the rate of pay, all that.
A month later, (after several phone calls), without telling me, they gave it to someone else.
I now no longer say I have a job until I'm actually filling out forms and/or there on my first day.
