I applied for a job earlier this week. The on-line application was similar to those that I have filled out before (usually after the interview), where you write your complete educational and work history, including a description of your duties/accomplishments, etc, dates of employment, salary, reason for leaving, etc..
At the end of the on-line application it had a place to upload an optional cover letter and optional resume. I uploaded them, because I am just used to sending my resume and a targeted cover letter. Plus I feel like it presents a more complete package.
I know it says optional (and I do know what optional means). But I was curious to see how others feel about this. Do you just submit the on-line application when you fill out an application like this? Or do you upload your resume and cover letter as well?
i'll third that i always upload my resume if given the chance. and ALWAYS a cover letter, if at all possible. if there's only an option to upload a resume, i put the cover letter and the resume in the same document.
Yes, i upload a resume and cover letter as well as my resume often provides some details missing in the application. Also, if at all possible, I like to provide a writing sample, letters of recommendation, and references.
