Out of curiosity, what are they looking for in that photo if the job is not for a model or actor?
they want to make sure you're not over 40...also probably to exclude certain races and religions...and that you're not fat. what else did you THINK they were trying to do? have a beauty pageant (sarcsm.) seriously....
When I was deciding on whether or not to put my photo on linkedin I read some studies that showed you get more interest in your profile if you have a photo. What I don't get is some of the photos I have seen on LI with people doing things that should be on FB not LI.

My question was posed to the German poster. I THINK I know what they're trying to do but I'm not German and don't live there so I don't know whether there are other reasons for this German hiring practice.
Seriously.
Many online application systems don't let you upload a resume unless it is just text, so a photo would be stripped out anyway. The staffing agencies that I've applied to requested a resume in Word, so that they could strip out my name/address and just forward along a generic "applicant" (plus I'm sure they didn't want the company contacting me directly).
I agree, with the way some sue in this country I do not see companies wanting pictures included, I sure as hell don't.
Exactly, it just gives somebody the excuse to sue anytime they don't get hired anywhere. And it's not like you as the employer can prove you didn't either.
My wife designs resumes for herself and for me and uses color and styled headings. I can't say whether they are doing me any good so far but she is interviewing left and right with this new design.
...Of course, then she is never hired because they bring her in for $100k+ positions and then eliminate them for cost savings, but I suppose that is a topic for another thread.
Good to hear. I see it every now and then. Given how important design is, I'm surprised that resume design is only slowly becoming popular. I'm sure that it will eventually be the norm.
I said that there's a positive correlation between IQ and physical attractiveness. That's a fact and you can easily verify it with a Google search.
