I got offered a job through whirlpool as an intern and I thought my reckless driving was sealed, but did a background check on myself and found it isn't. It doesn't show up for my car insurance though...

Anyways once whirlpool finds out, what most likely will happen? I'm debating if I should call them and tell them straight up or if I should wait and maybe they won't find out because my car insurance didn't find out? In still curious if it's sealed, but I doubt it since I called the courthouse and provided ifornation and got my own background check and it showed.

Whirlpool is using hireright to do the check and I really want this position. And ideas or thoughts on how struck whirlpool is with backgrounds?

Hireright is pretty thorough. You should contact them and be honest. What it looks like now is that you lied.

Why would you think it was sealed?

In the future, just be honest. Unless the crime is:

a) super serious (murder)
b) directly relevant to your new position (corporate theft)
c) recent (DUI last week)

most employers will be ok with the charges, as long as you are honest about it on the application. I know many people with various things in their background (drugs, DUIs, reckless charges, etc, etc) who have obtained top secret clearances.....they were just totally honest.

Well I thought after 2 years of no incidents it would be sealed by the judge . Once it didn't show up on my driving record I thought it was sealed:s

No, that is not how it works. Are you going to be driving for them?

What did the question on the application say? Often "minor" traffic offenses are excluded, though reckless might not be considered "minor". Since you're not driving for them it's probably not an automatic disqualifier, unless they asked and you lied.

Records of convictions are not expunged or sealed unless a judge says they are (e.g. if it was part of a deal offered to you); just falling off the driving record isn't the same thing.

On the app they said any crimes and I put no. Once I got job offer I had another one and I put yes to anything more than a minor traffic incident
