I have reached the second level of interviews for a position I would love to have. Got a call today with a request I have NEVER heard of. The hiring authority wants to come and do the second interview at my residence.

Has anyone ever experienced this? Maybe I'm just off base and all is OK, but it seems damned peculiar to me. The weirdest thing is that it is a government position.

Thanks!

Yes that is the strangest request I have heard. Have they given any reason such as you will be using your residence as your office? What level of government (city, county, state?) Is there a requirement that you live within the jurisdiction?

Does the job involve you making home visits to clients?

Also I would contact the human resources or whatever it's called, and inquire as to this procedure.

My guess is they do not know they have a serial killer rapist on their staff as a hiring manager.

I, uh. yeah I have never heard of this before. What is the job? You mention Government, is it Federal, or State?

Is this city, county, state or federal governement?
What is the generic position?

Overall, it is not unusual for certain entities to request a followup at your residence, if the position is such that your personal life is a qualification. So, without knowing the details of the positon and entity, who's to say it is or isn't unusual.
