Google resumes and copy yours off of one of those. You will make vast improvements! Also talk to your high school counselor, see if he/she can assist.

Career Objective:

Obtain a position in the field of automobile collision repair.

[put your educational achievement, school, date of achievement or attendance] -- It would look something like this:
Education and Certifications:
  • Certified in the use of Finish-master 6H spray gun, Kent Career Technical Center, 2012
  • Attended West Michigan Center for Arts and Technology, 2010 - 2013
-- This is just an example. You have to put in your degrees, diplomas, dates of attendance, etc.

Relevant Work Experience
[Date of Service, Title, (some official title that your friend's dad agrees to. If you worked without pay, then it would be okay to call yourself an Intern.) Name of Body Shop and location] -- It would look something like this:]

May 2012 - December 2013, Assistant Body Specialist, Pop's Automotive, Anytown, State

Duties and responsibilities included:
  • Shop changing tires [I don't know exactly what you mean by this -- did you remove the wheels and then put them back on later, did you install new tires and balance the tires? Explain why did this]
  • Cleaning the garage to maintain a safe and professional-looking work environment.
  • Cleaning spray guns to... --explain why
Other Work Experience
[Same format as above. List any other paying jobs you've held along with your duties and responsibilities. It is good to establish a work history. If you have no other jobs then delete this]

Automotive Skills
[Explain all of these skills more]
  • General Body Work including metal straightening, metal cutting, and shaping and sanding filler.
  • Welding [what type of welding and for what purpose? Are you arc welding patches, are you reinforcing joints?]
  • Paint preparation work, including: masking and using a spray gun [to do what?]

Other Relevant Skills
  • Fluent in Spanish
  • Art/drawing [I left this in, but you have to explain why it is important, and if you are going to list it, you should be prepared with samples of relevant art]
References available upon request.

Eric, you don't need a resume. In your field you will do far, far better to walk in and talk to the person in charge. They are going to want to see you.

Go talk to the people, and show up first thing in the morning. Have the sheet ready with references and the like, but don't let them have it until they talk to you, and then only give it to them if they don't hire you on the spot.

If I were applying for a position as Service Manager, Service Writer, or something like that it would be different. But the jobs I got as a mechanic and even as a truck driver, I just went in and GOT!

Too funny!! Not all are spelling bee-ers, but spelling does help in resumes and the like.

I work in admin at a university - and I'll get an email back (from 'analysts' above me) saying, "Your welcome". Drives me a little batty - but how do I tell them? How do you correct someone above you - for a kind of small thing? Especially when they are saying, 'You're welcome'?!! But then, I imagine them emailing those ABOVE THEM too!! (professors and deans!) And I shutter, or shudder (sp?)

Mbradleyc was having some fun at the OP. It's sarcasm that the OP would not likely understand.

Yes, although that header was so obviously bad I wonder if the OP was trying to be funny.

When I'm trying to hire someone, bad spelling and grammar automatically get an application/resume rejected, especially a resume.

How/where did you obtain your skills in auto collision repair? You don't have anything related to those skills under the helping a friend's dad in his shop section, so it looks like they were obtained somewhere else.

If it was through school, you need to list the specific degree you are/were studying for relevency.
