Many employers won't respond thank you notes, follow ups after interviews, or even have the common courtesy to send a decline. So regardless of how it was sent, whether canned or cut & paste, someone had to read the OP's note.
This is what I experience, at least in regards to thank you note responses and interview followups. I wouldn't look much into it, but appreciate the courtesy of at least responding to your note.
Like the OP, I have received several responses back singing my praises but didn't get the job. Now whenever I get a response I just don't get that warm feeling
KEEP LOOKING. Regardless of what the email said. It's nice that they sent it, but. . . don't count your chickens before they hatch. Work hard to get another position somewhere else. Wouldn't it be nice to have at least two offers from which to use to negotiate and choose?
I was told that I would receive employment if my background check passed, which it will. The woman who interviewed me gave me her card. Should I email her and say thank you even though she basically gave me the job already?
Suggestion: On your first day of employment, stop by her desk and say "Thank you!!"
You never know lately, but it speaks well of their manners that they acknowledged your post-interview communication. So many businesses these days think hiring is one-way street, with them able to abuse potential employees with impunity.

She did not "basically give you the job already", if she had given you the job you would have already filled out all tax paperwork.
What she gave you was a tentative offer contingent on the background information.
