I think it is horrible, disgusting, embarrassing, shameful. It stinks.
When they say "group exercise" they don't mean doing yoga or jumping jacks. They are talking about giving you a problem solving task and seeing how you work with group members.
The more I think about it, the more I respect their approach. I think it will be helpful for the company and fun for the six of us. No, there will be no jumping jacks or yoga but instead case studies, role playing and group problem solving. It is a very important position in the company and the senior managers and HR understand this and realize that just a simple interview is not going to be an indicator of success. They need to really look at the total package of skills, talents and critical thinking skills of each of us as a group to see which of us is best.

I really don't understand all the whining about the various methods employers use to determine the best person for a job. If you don't like it, don't apply. any other will apply and go through it, and will be better off for the experience. One of them will get a great, high paying job out of it. You can't win if you don't play the game. Good luck, "I'm Retired Now". I hope you report back after and tell us how it went.

I doubt you truly respect the approach and neither is the exercise designed to be "fun". The company in question may well have years of hiring experience under its belt. Where other candidates are all prepped to put forth their honest step, your past history of firings doesn't make you a good candidate but you were nonetheless chosen. Your employment issues have less to do with your age but with your longtime attitude towards employers and people in general.
Prospective employers of course won't have privy to what you write on forums but I'm guessing that a whole lot of your basic prejudices and "holier than thou" attitude(s) will quickly shine through.
As much as people give others the benefit of the doubt and say that, "well, everybody makes mistakes", I've never read any post you've written and not even anything on one of the numerous threads you've started which translates to any understanding on your part.

Well first off I don't think this story is true, but for laughs let's say that it is.
Your comment "if you don't like it, don't apply" doesn't hold up. Many people apply for a position and than find out after the fact and after their first interview what the process is going to be.
So to tell people not to "whine" when they go through 5 interviews or are still waiting for a response after starting the interview process more than 6 months ago for some mid level position isn't right.
A "whiner" is someone who buys a house by JFK airport and than complains about jet noise, they knew what they were getting into.
Most times a job candidate has no idea how long or drawn out the process is going to be, as we see here on many, many posts.
So "if you don't like it, don't apply" falls flat.
Sounds like the people conducting the interviews have watched waaaaay too many reality TV shows. They want to "vote someone off the island" for their own entertainment. It's sick. I would never agree to it.
