Yes, Myers-Briggs, that's correct. Your response, however, suggests that you have only the slightest idea of what you write. Only the slightest.
I could see the MBTI as a useful tool for counseling or professional development, but using it as a deciding factor in whether to hire a candidate is both unethical and idiotic.
Personality test is the biggest waste of time and resources HR has ever committed. Seriously, do you really think you'll weed out bad people by asking on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being most likely, that you are a person who likes to works in teams?
How stupid do you have to be to answer 1? Or answer false for, "Do you see yourself as a person who likes to organize their work space?" Personality tests are worthless, same with stupid brain teaser/creativity questions like, "How would you spend your day if you are a turtle?" I'm not even making that question up as I've had it before.
It shows that HR and hiring managers need to stop reading some blowhard's book and use common sense.
Myer Briggs Personality Typing is strong and accurate. I wouldn't think it necessary to type low level employees, but I can definitely see if being useful for professional or management positions. I've been really into the whole personality stuff and I think everyone can benefit from getting a real personality assessment done. Many of the online ones are jokes. I did the official test as part of a career assessment and my personality type describes me to the T. Learning more about my type has allowed me to grow in so many areas of my life, from careers, relationships, and personal growth.
On the flip side, personality testing could lead to "mirror image" hiring, basically hiring all the same types of people which ultimately creates a stagnant environment. It's important to see people's differences as something positive they can bring the company.
Yes, I am a boss. I'm talking about serious tests, per my post, such as Briggs Meyers. Ever hear of it?
As for whatever tests you've been forced to take, how do YOU know they're a waste of time? Just cause you happen to think so?
I have the actual results of my BM - I should live in a cave on a mountain top. My profession of 12+ years is the total opposite.
Workwise these assessments have been an issue. Same candidate, same assessment, different day, different result. ???
I have a friend that applied to be a housekeeper within the sheriff's department and she had to do a polygraph test and a psychological test on top of the standard background/credit check. The polygraph test was absurd. It's just a pseudo science, based on myth and has absolutely nothing to do with real science. People fail ALL the time just for being nervous. Actually, not so much. People's BM doesn't change much unless they're on the borderline in one dimension or the other. And it's very, very good at predicting behaviors and interactional styles in various situations.

That's a whole thread entirely. Police and detective methods are so archaic it's not even funny.

What is the opposite of living in cave on a mountain top? Living outside a cave at the bottom of the ocean?
I also have the results of my BM; I ate corn yesterday.
