How long until I get Offer Letter? Had verbal agreement. (job interview, job)

So two days ago I went to a job interview and I accepted a verbal offer for a job. My interviewer who will also be my boss told me she would get to writing up the letter but I haven't received it yet. How long does it usually take to get an offer letter?

It varies in my experience. The quickiest I've gotten an offer letter is 5 hours after my interview. With my current job, I didn't get an offer letter at all. I was just told what my salary was, the HR person went over the benefits with me, I took the drug test and I started working. But the vast majorty of positions that I had got me an offer letter in 1-3 days after the decision was made.

I had the offer letter emailed to me on the third day after I accepted. The hard copy came in the mail on day 10 (!) after I reminded them. I guess things got slow because of the 4th of July.

These days, within a day if the internal processes and approvals have cleared. They usually email it over, so it's very fast.

In my books, no written offer = no offer.. and verbal offer = good sign of receiving a written offer.

I'd not count my chickens if they haven't hatched yet (i.e. quit my current job) upon receiving a verbal offer but will optimistically push for a written one.

I would wait no longer than 3-4 days following day of verbal offer.Continue interviewing. The early bird gets the worm; whoever make a written offer first is who you should take seriously. People say all kinds of things. You can bank on it only if it's in writing.
