I've got a vacation planned that I already paid for, along with the flight. While I can do a phone interview early next week, if it's an in-person interview, it would have to wait until Wed. of next week (the 20th), as it's 1/3 of the way across the country.
Is it typical to have availability starting from 1+ week later?
If they are recruiting nationally, they are likely to give you sufficient advance notice of interview dates. Companies know it takes time for travel arrangements.
Your post is confusing. Do you even have any type of interview scheduled next week? No one can tell you whether this company will give you a short window, a long window, or will be willing to work with you. If they give you a short window, all you can do is explain that you are on vacation and ask to meet next week.
Companies tend not to move so quickly. If you're going to be gone a week following a phone interview, it could mean missing out on having a face-to-face interview and potentially losing out on possibly getting the job. But if they really like you they would probably schedule you for Monday instead of ending their interviews on the previous Friday, if that makes sense.
Update: I ended up NOT getting the interview. They needed someone with a specific security clearance now (although the cynical side of me still suspects other motives).
