No, not at all. Never have and I never will. Did you ever see the episode of Friends where Joey lied on his resume and he ended up having to teach a dance routine?
OK. I have never known of a company that would follow up on references. They either decide they like you, or don't, once you start working for them. How much investigating they would do depends on how much free time they have on their hands.
I've never known of a company that did not follow up on references, but it's possible practices differ regionally, by field or depending on the position being filled.

It has been about 50/50 for me. In my last job my boss didn't check my references. Or even ask. In my current job my boss checked 1 of 4 I provided. Ironically the only one she checked was the boss who never checked mine.
You can call anything you want and you can do what you want to do when the name of the company is yours.
Until then I do what I need to do to ensure I have qualified candidates before they become paid employees.
So it is a good thing you are not being offered a job with my company, let alone considered.
Wouldn't be shocked if you're employees didn't make fun of you behind your back, the arrogance
you have turned to lying on the app. then you have convinced others to do the same.
yet you are outraged when your employer is dishonest and treats you unfairly.
whats up with that?

Guess what....I don't really care, they get paid to do a job and their references will be checked thoroughly because I cannot have someone who is not qualified doing this job.
If they don't like how I do things, they can go find another job but it is doubtful they will get paid as well as I pay them.
I am not hiring someone to be my friend, I hire employees who get paid well and treated fairly, their opinion of me outside of business hours is not my concern.
Apparently it is the way to "get ahead" in life for so many of you.
Is that what you teach your children? Or are you hypocrites as well?
I too find it ironic how so many are quick to bash companies by calling them dishonest and unfair all the while saying it's perfectly fine to be dishonest to the companies who employ them. Pot meet kettle.
