indeed is pretty good, so i agree with the other posters there. craigslist is becoming a joke and monster and careerbuilder used to be ok...now i'm not sure.
i still have yet to get a job using any of these sites, however.
While my husband is out working, i use Indeed to generate now hiring lists for him. I am learning the ropes of Indeed, and yes the trick is to continually check the website for new listings. i have checked about 8 times in the past 3 days and got my husband first dibs on applying to 3 different jobs. So 8 check ins for 3 hits is not bad at all. i caught each job listing within 5-24 hours of it being posted so i know his resume isn't one of the last to be counted in. Craigslist has cut down considerably on the spam BUT it is still there, so you have to be careful with that. I have found all of my jobs from Craigslist personally, but i had to sort through alot of spam and crap to do so.
My experience in 2014:
1. Found one job via Craigslist which paid better than minimum wage.
2. Found contract job because I was on the mailing list for a recruiter.
3. Found contract job#2 via Monster. The company was hiring for a "permanent" position, but I didn't have all the skills they wanted. However, I did have skills for some projects they had in mind. I suggested working contract. They agreed.
