I was fired from my first job outside of the navy. I tell the whole story, and fully admit my mistake and how I used that lesson to better myself. I have not had a problem during any interview because of being fired.
I was a field technician for telephony work. I was working at a call center in las vegas and ended up arguing with the customer. Completely wrong on my part even if I was right in the argument. I learned my lesson and turned my customer service skills around and never had an issue with any customers since then!
After being fired and constantly being rejected by potential employers after they found out, I tried to be honest. I worked hard on a new approach of saying what I learned from the experience and would never make those mistakes again. I bombed and you could tell the interviewer lost interest in me after finding out I had been fired from my last job. He/she had all kinds of other qualified candidates who were not damaged goods.

That's what makes me wonder if people who have been let go are never gonna find work again. It's already hard enough for people who have some work experience and are applying.
I was unemployed for a year after being fired. Employers would call and my past employer who fired me said I was fired for misconduct and poof.. I was no longer an applicant for employment and had to start all over again.
FYI: I told potential employers I was laid off but that lie did not work after they looked into my background.
I had to leave a job due to harassment in 2015 & I quit as soon as I could so I could avoid my manager doing anything skanky to get back at me for not putting up with his behavior.
I had checked around & found out HR at that place would most likely not help me. I was better off leaving.
