So there are a couple of internal positions I've been interviewing for at my company. I got an offer from the first team and was nearing the end of my interviews for the second team. I prefer the second team. Upon receiving the first offer I asked for some time and mentioned the situation with the other team to the first manager. HR discussed internally and informed the second hiring manager that I rxeixed an offer.. Would this help/hurt? I also sent a note to the second hiring manager to let him know I prefer his team despite other offer to reinforce interest but didn't get a response
2 of the 3 people I interviewed today sent a response to my thank you notes.. Good sign or means nothing?
Would you atleast agree that it was a good idea to have emailed the hiring manager to reinforce my interest after he learned of the other offer? Would it make me look in demand internally ?
You've already done it so what does it matter if it was a good idea?
If I were HM#2, all it would tell me is that I should hurry up and make a decision about you.
HM # 2 would hurry up only if he has a genuine interest in OP. If not, the HM would just ignore the fact that OP has an offer and continue looking for the right candidate.

Well, since it's an internal xfer, I figured HR will force HM#2's hand. They need to fill those reqs!
It depends on dynamics we cannot possibly know about from afar. If this is a highly collaborative workplace perhaps the second HM will back off now that he knows you have already gotten an offer from his colleague. On the other hand, perhaps he hates the other department and will take particular pleasure in denying them their top candidate. Perhaps the second HM will hurry up and make you an offer for fear of losing you. Or maybe he will tell you to stick with the offer you have in hand because either you are not his first choice or he knows there is no chance of the timeline working out in your favor.
Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do now but wait and see how things shake out.
I appreciate the responses! Thank you everyone. One of the associates on the second position asked if I could get an extension to respond back on the offer (which I did). Got a 2 day extension. They had one final candidate coming in today and were going to decide after that. Ofcourse can't read into it too much but I was just being optimistic with the fact that they asked me to try and extend instead of saying "go and accept the first offer".
The two roles are in different groups. I should hopefully get a response on the second one by tomorrow since that is when I have to respond on the first offer. Both hiring managers are aware of the situation and timeline. It's just a nerve-wracking situation so I was looking for thoughts and advice on if I did the right things
