This is the truth right here. If everyone had the gumption to say they won't accept below a certain amount for these jobs, pay would be better. On the other hand prices would be higher.

If you made a higher wage before, and take a lower wage just to get work, it will be hard to get back to the higher wage at future jobs.

As for ads wanting high skills/offering low wage, I just laugh. I know in my field, they'll find someone at that rate, but that employee often inflates their skill set. And that employer often ends up paying someone like me a much, much higher rate later to fix what the cheap rate employee messed up. It's sad, too, because if the employer had just offered a fair rate based on skills, they wouldn't need me 6 months later. Penny wise but dollar foolish.
