Our small office has been hiring recently. Most of our candidates come through a recruiting firm the site manager has hired, since we've had trouble getting direct applications. The resumes generally just get "polished" up a little bit with the recruiting firm logo and grammar corrections, but a recent resume concerned me. The recruiter sends the resume to the hiring manager and he sends the resumes on out to the rest of the staff as we do group interviews.

Tons of PII were attached to it and that hasn't been the case with the other resumes. I'm not sure if this is an oversight or what, but the guy's visa status, passport number/expiry, full date of birth, even marital status were appended to the end. This is just way too much for us to know since we are neither in a hiring capacity nor HR. I can't believe the resume was sent like this.

Have you ever seen something like this? Does it appear to be an oversight?

I've never seen it. I've seen candidates put on their resume that they have an H1B, citizen, or are otherwise allowed to legally work in the USA, but never personal information like that.

While it's not illegal, it's usually discouraged by HR because they don't want the potential discrimination claims.
