I just wanted to chime in here as well. I am graduating in May as well with the same degree as you are. One thing that I found to be incredibly helpful was to go to job fairs! I'm not sure what school you attend, but I'm sure your school has held at least one job fair. Definitely go to those!

Another thing that definitely helped me to "get ahead" (sort of)...was that my one professor would send me periodic emails (and I'm assuming to others as well) of current job openings in the state that had been sent to him. I applied to EVERY SINGLE ONE he sent me. And have had luck with that.

If you need anymore help or tips for job hunting, I'll be more than happy to help since I'm literally just about in the same boat as you (same degree, same graduation, relatively close state wise, etc). Good luck!

I agree. While the idea that an employer is looking local, most of that concern comes from someone with strong ties to their former location and the employer fears after hiring and training the new recruit will get homesick and leave the job. Include information in your resume up front that eliminates that employer's concern. Continue your search from where you are.

Good Luck!

Mod cut.
