I emailed the hiring manager today and he said to follow up next week

Is it okay to follow up early next week? I prefer to get an answer quick instead of waiting and waiting

Follow up next Thursday Morning so you can have an answer before the week is over. If there is no response by close of business then they may have went with someone else and may have to move on to the next opportunity.

A vague response from the hiring manager is generally not a good sign. I would call, but I think it's a long shot. If he wanted you, he would have let you know, or gave you specifics.

I wouldn't wait an entire week. I'd follow up on Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

I would follow up one week from the last time you spoke, unless you hear sooner. I am going thru the same thing right now and it is killing me. Good luck!

^^Agree. Monday is too early plus they are catching up over the weekend and settling in for the week. Plus, you want to give them a few days to maybe contact you first before you call. Tuesday late or Weds early would be just right.

Did you send your thank-yous highlighting why you want the job and why you are the best candidate? Did you get all of your questions asked and answered, etc? If you have wrapped up all loose ends then just wait and call them Tuesday or Wednesday.

Just my 2 cents anyway.

Since the hiring manager said next week I would think calling or emailing on a Monday may too soon. If not Thursday I would say atleast email for a follow up by Tuesday so the OP can have closure before the week is over.

do it monday the week after that, if they want you, they will let you know, asking them isnt going to sway their minds, at least if you do it in two weeks, you can stop stressing over it that week

i see it like, they can have the entire first week, but then you can follow up the second week since they didnt the first like they said. you dont know if he will email you before closing friday, in which case he followed up "next week"

I think Monday would be too soon since that it's the first day of the week and nothing may changed since he told the OP to follow up next week. That's why it would be better to follow on maybe Wednesday at the earliest to get a update on the hiring status.
