Had a really great rapport with the hiring manager. Very nice, transparent guy.

Unfortunately I'll be turning down his offer. Who should I inform first, him or the recruiter who officially offered?

Best way to break it to them? Follow up email?

I'm actually quite nervous to do this.

Who contacted you first about the job? I would email that person and thank them very much for their time, but you are going to accept a different job offer. Wish them the best of luck.

You're not telling your 5 year old her guppy died. You're telling a company, who wouldn't give two ***** about telling you no job, that you are not taking the job. Simply say thank you, I enjoyed speaking with you, but I am going to be accepting another offer.

Agree with this. They aren't going to be heartbroken. Your turning them down will not send their company into a downward spiral that they will never recover from.

Just call the manager, say thanks, but you'll be accepting another offer. It's a nice "problem" to have!!!

Tell them you appreciate the offer but it isn't the right position for you at this time. Don't stress about it. They hear this all the time.

Not a hard decision. Be diplomatic and say while you appreciate the offer, something better came up.

I would definitely call. It's all about networking and who knows what position the manager or you will be in down the road.

Not to worry. They know this process is a two way street.
