I applied for a job a few days ago, and received a call indicating interest a few days afterward. When I called the man back, I discovered it was not only the hiring manager but the VP of the department in which I would be working. He didn't even bother to ask any questions or discuss the position, but immediately began throwing date/times out for an in-person interview. I was really caught off-guard, but kind of went with it and accepted without asking a lot of questions. Normally I would be really suspicious but this a pretty well-known regional bank. Am I missing something here?

When calling to make an appointment for an interview, I have never heard of anyone asking questions, just setting the date and time. Of course, it's normally HR that handles that, not the hiring manager or a VP. Maybe they just got tired of HR dragging their feet and decided to do it themselves.

I know it has been a few months but from what was said here, I'd say the person being interviewed better be prepared to think fast, turn on a dime and be handed work with either minimal instruction or micromanaged instruction.

It would have been instructive to know how this interview went...
