I wanted to take the opportunity to share/vent about some of the things I've been told by HR professionals and recruiters. If these are people who are experts in the hiring processes, we are in need of some serious help.

Please add your own experiences. I need a good laugh.

I wore a suit to an interview and was told by the interviewer, who looked like she was about to leave the office for the stripper pole, that I was underdressed. Looking back, that interview was on a Friday.

As recently as last week, I was asked why I didn't have an objective on my resume. The kid who asked me this looked like he just graduated college in May. He would have been about 6 months old when a resume objective was common practice.

Maybe you just found good reasons you wouldn't want to work at those places anyway!

Yet, you are the one unemployed or looking for work. Good grief.

Are you suggesting I dress like a stripper for my next job interview? As much as I love Channing Tatum and really preferred the first Magic Mike movie to the recent sequel, I would have to disagree that dressing in such would be beneficial in my job search.

In the original post, I simply invited others to share rolling your eyes moments for the comic relief that we all could use.

JMW, you misspelled 'ridiculous'. "....underdressed..." should have been hyphenated.

That some cherry boy HR kid thought you ought to have had an "Objective" paragraph on your resume is fair warning that the clueless in HR still exist.

Actually, since the 'Objective' paragraph has not been in vogue since before I got into this business, he would have not been even six months old. He probably got his HR training from a professor who ought to have been put in a museum.

But I liked your way of describing him.

Am curious to know what you said in response and yes, I rolled my eyes.

P.S. Ignore Staggerlee666; s/he will always find fault where no fault is to be found....
