Hi All,

I interviewed a company about 4 weeks ago and the HR called me over the phone two weeks ago for a verbal offer. The HR manager said on the phone that the written process would be long because quite a lot of people were out of vacation. I waited till the Thursday before Labor Day weekend, received nothing and I shoot her an email inquiring about the process and reiterate my interest. I heard back on Tuesday from the HR manager saying that they did not have a concrete timeline since they were still waiting for the finance approval, but they would reach out to me for the offer details as soon as they are able to move forward. She also sound very welcoming as she said like they remain strong interested and excited for me joining the team.

Should I worry about this and still keep applying for jobs? I really want this one and just wanna quit my current one as soon as possible. And how often/ should I keep following up with her if I don't hear anything back from her next week? Any inputs are appreciated...I have been stressed about this for a long time and this wait is killing me!

Thank you all!!

The fact the job hasn't been approved says it all. They want to fill the position but need to clear it. I would 100% keep looking.

I know how frustrating it must be for you to wait and wait. But you've heard that they'll reach out to you when they can. So, in my opinion, yes, you should continue looking for another job and you shouldnt contact this company again unless you get another job offer.

And I'd think long and hard about turning down a good job offer to wait for this company to get its act together. I'm surprised that a company would offer someone a job without having financing approval for the position.

Good luck!

Red flag! Keep looking until they have a real, approved job to fill.

Many times reqs are frozen due to company performance (or lack of) or they expired because they took too long to fill. It's pretty typical.
If that's the case, they have to go through all the justification riggamarole again.
